Rearranging Your Guest Room

|

This summer could provide the perfect opportunity to rearrange, or even remodel your guest bedroom! While you may not have as many guests in your home this year as you may have in years past, you still want your guestroom ready for your family and friends who come to visit this fall or winter for the holidays.

Self storage units are a convenient way to store away items you do not need to access every day. If you need things out of the way, or there are items in your guestroom closet that could be put into storage, visit our website to rent an affordable space.

Use Only Necessary Furniture

The most important piece in a comfortable and inviting bedroom for guests to stay overnight is the bed. Evaluate the bed in your guest room; if the mattress and box spring are beginning to wear out, now would be a good time to consider replacing them.

To make the space look larger, only keep necessary furniture like a bed, bedside tables, and one other item. If the space is cluttered, consider putting extra furniture in storage.

Clean Out the Closet

The guest room closet can often become a storage place for random items you haven’t found a place for in your home. You might store winter jackets, sports gear, or board games, and other items. You want to make room for your guests to hang up their clothes or store their suitcases. First, declutter the closet and remove things you don’t use on a regular basis. Even removing a few things and rearranging what is left can make more space!

Fresh Paint

With most of us having more time at home with our families and partners, this time at home is a great opportunity to take on DIY projects. Liven up your guest room and add a fresh coat of paint to the walls. Think about what a new color would do for the room, or check to see if you have left over paint from a previous project. If you want to keep the same color that’s already on the walls, consider painting an accent wall with a complementary color. Once you are done painting, hang new artwork on the walls or add decorations to make the space feel cozy.
